Use

  • Grab using npm or bower under name console-log-div.
  • Include 'console-log-div.js' in your page. console.log calls will be shown in the div on the page.
<script src="bower_components/console-log-div/console-log-div.js"></script>

The created element will have class .console-log-div and id console-log-div thus you can style it. The inner text will has id console-log-text.

<style>
.console-log-div {
  border: 1px solid gray;
  padding: 5px 10px;
  border-radius: 5px;
  width: 95% !important;
  background-color: #efefef;
}
</style>

Customize existing fieldset

Instead of adding a new element at the end of the body, you can mirror console output to an existing fieldset element. Just give it id console-log-div.

<fieldset id="console-log-div"></fieldset>
<p>The fieldset above will mirror <code>console.log</code> calls</p>
<script src="../console-log-div.js"></script>

I used fieldset tag to place an html5 label on the top border.

jsFiddle demos

When showing demos on jsfiddle or plnkr you can use RawGit proxy

<script src="https://rawgit.com/bahmutov/console-log-div/master/console-log-div.js"></script>

Handling exceptions

This library installs window error event listener, and prints the exception's message and location. For example throwing an error like this throw new Error('this is a thrown error'); will generate text output

EXCEPTION: Uncaught Error: this is a thrown error
  file:///console-log-div/test/index.html 39:13

Console methods

The following methods are mirrored into the div: console.log, .warn, .error and .table.

Small print
